Meet our Speaker:
Michael A. Duff
Michael A. Duff retired in May 2025 after a 34-year career with Penske Transportation Solutions. He joined the Penske Legal Department in 1991 and served as the company’s General Counsel from April 2001 until February 2015, as its Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Vice President of Government Relations from February 2015 until April 2021, and its Vice President—Community Engagement from April 2021 until May 2025. Before joining the Penske Legal Department, Mike was an associate with the Venable LLP law firm in Baltimore from 1985 to 1991. He holds a B.A. in history from The Johns Hopkins University (1982) and a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law (1985).
Mike and his wife Diane served as Co-Chairs of United Way’s 2011 Campaign and served as Co-Chairs of United Way’s Tocqueville Society in 2013 and 2014. Together with two of his Penske colleagues, Mike served as Co-Chair of United Way’s 2024 Campaign.
Mike currently serves in various roles for a number of non-profit organizations, including Alvernia University (where he serves as Board Chair), Caron (where he serves as Chair of its Greater Pennsylvania Regional Advisory Board and as an ex officio member of the Caron Board of Trustees), The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (where he serves as Secretary), The Greater Berks Development Fund (where he serves as Secretary), The Highlands at Wyomissing (where he serves on the Board), Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center (where he serves as Board Chair), and Penn State Health (where he serves as an ex officio member of the Board).
In the past, Mike has chaired the Boards of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, the John Paul II Center for Special Learning, the Reading Symphony Orchestra, the Truck Renting and Leasing Association, and the United Way of Berks County.
Mike has been recognized for his and Diane’s service to the community and philanthropy by a number of organizations, including the Association of Fundraising Professionals Berks Regional Chapter, Caron Treatment Centers, Crime Alert Berks, the John Paul II Center for Special Learning, the Law Foundation of Berks County, the Salvation Army of Reading, the Truck Renting and Leasing Association, the United Way of Berks County, and the YMCA of Reading and Berks County.
Mike and his wife Diane were married in August 1984, and they have resided in Lower Heidelberg Township since 1991. They have two adult sons—Alex (Philadelphia) and Steven (Charlotte, North Carolina).
