Green Building Alliance Hosts Resilient Reading Roundtable:
Water Conservation Best Practices, August 12 at
Reading City Council Chambers
 
Free event will offer guidance on water conservation, water leak detection,
and business best practices
 
August 5, 2025 (READING, PA) – As part of its Resilient Reading initiative, Green Building Alliance (GBA) will host Water Conservation Best Practices, a free roundtable event on August 12, at Reading City Council Chambers.
 
The event will bring together sustainability leaders, commercial building owners, and community advocates to explore innovative, solutions-based strategies for reducing water waste and promoting resilient infrastructure across Reading. 
 
The agenda will focus on water conservation, the importance of water leak detection, business best practices, and networking. Speakers include Bill Murray, Executive Director, Reading Area Water Authority (RAWA), and Bethany Ayers Fisher, Sustainability Manager, City of Reading Public Works Department. 
 
Attendees will: 

  1. Receive guidance on how to read their water bill
  2. Gain insight on how potable water reaches our tap
  3. Explore strategies for conserving water 
  4. Learn more about GBA’s work in Reading
  5. Meet the Resilient Reading team
 
“Resilient Reading Roundtables bring topics to the community designed to educate, inspire, and provide examples of how building for resiliency enables communities to thrive,” says Ashley DiGregorio, GBA Senior Director, Energy and Community. “This month, we want to emphasize the importance of conserving water through smart, forward-thinking practices in efficient plumbing fixtures, landscaping, and operations “In every community, water is a vital resource, and who better to lead by example than Reading Area Water Authority, as the greater Reading area has experienced prolonged drought conditions in the past year and knows the importance of changing practices to use water as efficiently as possible.”
